My day at CEIP Plurilingue San Bartolome

Aloha,

Today was my first Wednesday at San Bartolome.  I was greeted by the students in English 3 with hugs, which almost brought me to tears.  As the students took their seats we began with the introductions and I was eager to share about my current home State of Hawaii.  The students named many things that Hawaii is known for like; sharks, whales, beaches, surfing, turtles, volcano etc.  Their excitement got the best of them after seeing pictures of Hawaii especially the sea mammals that they decided to show me how much they loved sharks. See for yourself!!

Alicia Ortiz

Bandera de HawáiAloha (Hawaiian greeting),
I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to you.  My name is Alicia Ortiz and I am the new Language Assistant at CEIP Plurilingue San Bartolome for the 2019-2020 school year.

I was born and raised in New York City, United States, home to the Statue of Liberty.  I currently reside in the State of Hawaii where my pastimes consisted of hiking the crater of Haleakala, walking the pristine beaches on the North Shore of Maui and relaxing with my dogs Kiki and Coco.

I chose the region of Galicia because I believe there are many similarities to the things I love about Hawaii.  Galicia has lush vegetation due to the rainy climate, beautiful beaches, and the cuisine is rich in excellent seafood.  I am happy to be here and excited to learn from the Galician culture as much as I can and share as much of myself with all of you!

Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day is a "celebration" in the United States where Phil the Groundhog predicts if we will have an early spring or 6 more weeks of winter.

Below is a link to the presentation. (FYI he predicted an early spring this year.)
